Cub Scouts meet on a Thursday evening. The Cub Scout age range is from 8 – 10½ years and we welcome both boys and girls. A cub scout pack can have up to 36 cub scouts, dependent on the number of adult helpers.
During meetings, the pack is split into smaller groups called sixes. Within the sixes older Cubs can take on leadership roles and become Sixers or Seconders.
Cubs take part in a wide range of activities designed to be interesting and challenge them. A cub scout meeting consists of a mixture of games and activities.
During their time in Cubs young people get the opportunity to work towards achieving activity and challenge badges to be worn on their uniform, with the ultimate goal of achieving their Chief Scout Silver Award. Cubs spend a lot of their time doing outdoor and adventurous activities.
They also engage in a wide range of enriching experiences, such as visiting Gatwick Airport, Burgess Hill Fire Station and outdoor activity centres.
Cubs also engage in regular community activities including regular litter picks of Fairfield Recreation Ground, Remembrance and St George’s Day Parades, Burgess Hill Town Day, Burgess Hill Bonfire Celebrations and other community events/projects.
Camps and holidays are some of the most memorable events of the year for cubs. Each year we do a mixture of indoor sleepovers and holidays and outdoor camps including some large camps with Cubs from all over the County.
